Timeshift


Timeshift

 
Timeshift application shall support two modes of operation:
• Recording
• Playback
In recording mode Timeshift application pauses decoding of selected service and records it in the timeshift buffer. In playback mode, Timeshift application plays previously recorded service.

• In ‘Running’ mode, Timeshift application can be activated by pressing the [PAUSE] key on the remote controller.
• If the end user presses [PLAY] key on the remote controller, while in timeshift recording mode, Timeshift application shall switch from recording to playback mode.
• In timeshift recording and playback mode activation of Info banner shall be blocked.
• In both recording and playback mode, Timeshift application shall be closed if the end user presses [STOP] key on the remote controller.
• In both recording and playback mode of Timeshift application, if the user tries to switch to another service, device shall automatically stop the Timeshift application, and switch to the desired service.
• In both recording and playback mode of Timeshift application, if the user presses [REC] key, device shall automatically copy the content of timeshift buffer to the recording file on USB device, and switch to one touch recording, starting from the point where timeshift recording ended.
• Recorded file name shall be the name of the EPG event that was active in the moment when one touch recording is activated.
• If timeshift buffer is full, recording shall continue from beginning of the buffer. When timeshift playback is active and the end of timeshift buffer is reached, playback shall continue from the beginning of timeshift buffer.
• If timeshift playback reaches current recording point (using fast forward), device shall return to timeshift recording mode. If timeshift playback reaches start of timeshift buffer (using fast rewind), device shall start timeshift playback from the beginning of the timeshift buffer.
• When recording continues from beginning of the buffer due to buffer fullness, recording shall overwrite playback data from the beginning of the buffer and move starting point of the playback to the current recording point.

Time shift application shall inform (in form of notification) the end user about unsuccessful start of time shift operation in following cases:
• External USB storage is not attached
• External USB storage file system is not supported
• There is not enough space for Timeshift operation on external USB storage

When started, Timeshift application shall run in recording mode. There shall be visual indication about timeshift recording status, containing following information:
• Service name
• Current event name
• Progress bar showing elapsed recording time and time to reach the end of recording

While in playback mode, Timeshift application shall provide visual indication about timeshift playback status, containing following information:
• Service name
• Current event name
• Progress bar showing elapsed playback time and elapsed recording time.

While in playback mode, Timeshift application shall support playback trick modes:
• fast forward
• fast rewind,
which can be activated with [FWD] and [RWD] keys.
Playback speed x2, x4, x8 shall be supported for both fast forward and fast rewind.

In both recording and playback mode, Timeshift application shall be closed if external USB storage is removed by the end user and the end user shall be informed (e.g. “Timeshift is stopped due to removing of external USB storage.”).
 


 
PVR application shall inform (in form of notification) the end user about unsuccessful start of PVR recording in following cases:
• External USB storage is not attached
• External USB storage file system is not supported
• There is not enough space on external USB storage
• Average USB storage read/write speed is insufficient for performing PVR recording

When recording is started, device shall display notification that recording is started.
When recording is finished, device shall display notification that recording can be found in Recorded TV application by the name: . Notification shall be displayed on the screen for 5 seconds.
While recording is active and disk space reaches its full capacity, system shall stop the recording and display notification that the disk memory is full. Notification shall be displayed on the screen for 5 seconds.
 



Asynchronous events


 
1. In the Timeshift application, if the scheduled recording timer triggers on the same source (DVB-T/T2, DVB-C, DVB-S2, IPTV/OTT, TER>IP, CAB>IP or SAT>IP) as currently active service source, the device shall display dialogue with the following content:
• Information: “Recording of the "event name" is scheduled on "service name".
• Possible actions: “Cancel”/”Accept”

2. If the user choses “Cancel” option, scheduled recording shall be discarded and user will stay in Timeshift application on the currently active service. If the user choses “Accept” option device shall automatically stop Timeshift application, switch to the service corresponding to the scheduled recording and perform recording (described in PVR application). If there is no user input for 10 seconds, behaviour is the same as for “Accept” option

3. In the Timeshift application, if the scheduled recording timer triggers on the different source (DVB-T/T2, DVB-C, DVB-S2, IPTV/OTT, TER>IP, CAB>IP, SAT>IP) than currently active service source, the device shall display dialogue with the following content:
• Information: “Recording of the "event name" is scheduled on "service name".
• Possible actions: “Cancel”/”Accept”

4. If the user choses “Cancel” option, scheduled recording shall be discarded and user will stay in application on the currently active service. If the user choses “Accept” option, device shall automatically stop application and perform the recording of another service in the background, simultaneously with watching of current service. If there is no user input for 10 seconds, behaviour is the same as for “Accept” option.

5. HbbTV signaling shall be blocked in application.
